4th - 11th February, 2019
Price: $5950 aud
Duration: 7 Nights
Location: Lofoten, Norway
Located inside The Arctic Circle @ 68 degrees north, Lofoten is truly a photographers paradise.
Lofoten is an archipelago and a traditional district in the county of Nordland Norway, and is known for it’s distinctive scenery with dramatic mountain peaks, sheltered bays, beaches and untouched wilderness. Join Glenn McKimmin and myself on this 7 day adventure into one of the most photogenic places on earth during what is considered the absolute best time to visit this region, winter.
Limited to just 6 clients only, this trip is designed to get the best out of this location in a small, and intimate group. This Northern Lights Photographic Tour will amaze you.
The light at this time of year is amazing as the sun’s latitude stays low on the horizon, providing gorgeous soft light all day long. If the weather allows it, we will be on location for sunrise on every day on this tour, and if we can maintain the energy levels all throughout the day, we will keep on going till sunset.
If there are clear skies, we will head out to shoot the Aurora Borealis at night. Obviously, our itinerary is flexible – we will follow the light, that’s our only rule.
4th - 6th February 2019 - Leknes and Surrounds
Arrival into the Lofoten Islands will be via Leknes Airport. We will pick up our transport and drive approx 10 minutes to our accomodation, Anne Gerds Guesthouse. Anne Gerds is one of the best private houses in the whole area and I love taking our guests here. For the next two days we will explore this area extensively before we make our way towards Hamnøy and Reine.
6th February - 8th March 2018 - Hamnoøy & Reine
Located on the waters edge in Hamnøy, our cabins are just a short drive from the picturesque village of Reine and the perfect base to explore this area of Lofoten. We will leave each days itinerary fairly open and decide shooting locations on a day to day basis. Locations include, but not limited to Reine, Hamnøy, Flakstad, Skagsanden and Å.
8th February, 2019 - Leknes
We make our way back to Leknes and Anne Gerds Guesthouse today for one last night of fine Norwegian hospitality. With a bit of luck well see the Northern Lights going crazy over of of the beautiful beaches in the area.
9th - 11th February 2019 - Svolvær
After a sunrise shoot and breakfast at Anne Gerds, we make out way towards Svolvær, Lofoten's capital. We have two nights to explore this region of Lofoten before flying out on Monday.

Travel insurance is MANDATORY and highly recommended for cover of unforeseen circumstances. Camera and equipment insurance is the responsibility of the individual photographer.
Camera experience required:
A modest level of photographic experience would be advisable to get the most out of this tour. Familiarising yourself with your basic camera operations is also strongly advised. Please bring camera manuals in case the tutors need to make adjustments to your camera settings.
All tours are conducted based on a minimum of participants booking. This may vary according to the tour you have chosen. If we cancel due to minimum numbers not being reached you will get a full refund of the tour cost only that you have previously paid. Other bookings you may make related to this tour are not our responsibility and so we recommend travel insurance to cover this. We will only run this trip if we reach the required minimum number of guests.
We will be assisting you to take photographs and provide tuition throughout the tour if needed. In the event of a guide being unable to attend due to illness or other circumstances beyond our control we will endeavour to provide another guide of similar experience.
What else do you need to know?
There maybe some moderately energetic walking involved to get to certain locations so please consider this related to your physical abilities. If you have any other medical conditions that might affect your enjoyment of the workshop please let us know. Evening and early morning shoots will form part of the tour. You may choose to not participate in these but we recommend that you do take part.
Early morning shoot times are entirely dependant on the sunrise times so schedules we set for departure will need to be adhered to rigidly. It’s not fair to the group as a whole to have to wait for a late riser so we will leave exactly at the times we say.
Please bring clothing suited to early morning or evening shoots that may be a little chilly, sturdy foot wear, hat, sunscreen and camera of course…. Like any trip away from home please bring personal medication requirements. We usually meet the evening before the workshop to have drinks and/or dine together and get to know each other. Please consider this when planning your travel arrangements.
Liability Limitation Statement:
We aim to provide every participant with a safe and enjoyable experience during the tour. As there is always an element of risk associated with the outdoors and travel in general we accept no responsibility/liability for injury, death, illness, losses or additional expenses associated with tour participation. By signing the booking form you are agreeing to all the listed terms and conditions.
The information provided by participants will not be released to any other parties.
The cost of the trip is $5950. A deposit of $2975, or full payment plus any single supplements, is to be paid with the return of the booking form. If paying just the deposit amount with your trip registration, the remainder of the trip needs to be paid no later than 60 days prior to departure.
