Picture perfect lakes. Magnificent mountain vistas. Charming Villages.

The Dolomites are a mountain range located in northeastern Italy that form a part of the Southern Limestone Alps and extend from the River Adige in the west to the Piave Valley in the east. The northern and southern borders are defined by the Puster Valley and the Sugana Valley. The Dolomites are nearly equally shared between the provinces of Belluno, South Tyrol and Trentino

It is easy to see why so many people have fallen in love The Dolomites and over the course of eight amazing  days we aim to show the very best of this Italian alpine region has to offer. We will be staying in beautiful motels, exploring charming little villages, driving some of the most scenic roads in the world, eating good food and photographing alpine lakes and sensational mountain vistas. Join us on this photographic adventure and go home with a bag full of amazing images and memories that will last forever.

After arrival into Venice International Airport, our guides and myself will arrange a group pick from the airport and drive directly to The Dolomites where we check in at the hotel in the town of Ortisei, located in the middle  of the most beautiful massifs of The Dolomites. Depending on the time and weather conditions, we will capture the sunset from one of the mountain passes or from on top of the mountain using a cable car.

We have a full day to explore the beautiful area around Ortisei and Val Gardena. We will drive to spectacular mountain passes such as Passo Sella and Passo Gardena. We might even make a round trip driving through scenic ski villages with mountain views all the way. Sunset tonight will be from one of the epic mountain passes nearby.

  • 18th September, 2021 - Ortisei to Bressanone

Today we are up early for a sunrise shoot at one of the most picturesque locations in The Dolomites. If weather permits, we will take the Seceda gondola which will take us to the top of the mountain where we have spectacular views on Odles masssif. After we get back to the valley, we will continue our journey to Bressanone and the Funes valley. Sunset tonight will be at the famous St Johann church with the jagged Geisler group of mountains in the background.

  • 19th September, 2021 - Bressanne and Val di Funes

After breakfast and a morning shoot at Bressanone, we have a full day to explore and enjoy the beautiful Funes valley. During the day we will visit two of the most beautiful churches in the region,  St Maddalena and St Jacob. With a bit of luck, breathtaking views will accompany us all day. We will also visit Passo della Erbe for amazing mountain views.

  • 20th September, 2021 - Bressanone – Lago di Braies

Today we have a travel day through some of the most beautiful country side in this whole region. Depending on the road conditions, we might take a small detour to another amazing church, Santa Barbara, before we get onto the main road to Brunico and Lago di Braies. Sunset at Lago di Braies and dinner at our hotel.

  • 21st September, 2021 - Lago di Braies - Cortina d'Ampezzo

After a morning shoot and breakfast, we must leave this beautiful lake and drive to the amazing Cortina d'Ampezzo. On the way we can possibly stop at one of the nearby lakes, Duerrensee and Lake Misurina.

  • 22nd September, 2021 - Cortina d'Ampezzo

We have a full day to explore the amazing mountain views around the area. We will explore the high mountain passes such as Passo Giau and Passo Falzarego. If weather permits, we can take cable cars to nearby mountain huts at Lagazuoi and/or the amazing rock formations of Cinque Torri ( five towers ). One of the highlights is a visit to Tre Cime which boats some of the most dramatic peaks in The Dolomites. We can also stroll around Cortina's old town and enjoy an Italian coffee or Aperol Spritz when not shooting beautiful mountain scapes or reflections in the lakes.

Early morning shoot times are entirely dependant on the sunrise times so schedules we set for departure will need to be adhered to strictly. It’s not fair to the group as a whole to have to wait for a late riser so we will leave exactly at the times we say.

Like any trip away from home please bring personal medication requirements. We usually meet the evening before the workshop to have drinks and/or dine together and get to know each other. Please consider this when planning your travel arrangements.
